Ethiopian opal forms as rainwater seeps over long ages into silica-rich rock deposited by volcanic eruptions, building up silica layer by layer. Its “play-of-color”—shifting, multicolored light born from the refraction of light—is opal’s greatest characteristic. Even viewed from the same angle, a single change in how the light strikes reveals an entirely different expression—the unique charm of this stone.

Materials & Finish
The thin and thick chains use different clasp sizes. Each uses a spring-ring clasp sized to the weight of its chain, and both are Italian sterling silver 925.

At SMUK, we use four types of plating finishes, each selected to suit the design and materials of the piece.
Rhodium Plating — A rare platinum-group metal. Tarnish and scratch resistant, with a bright, clear silver tone. Gentle on sensitive skin.
18K Gold Plating — 75% fine gold over sterling silver. Warm, deep gold color that flatters all skin tones.
14K White Gold Plating — 58.3% fine gold with a soft, cool white tone. Pairs beautifully with pearls and delicate designs.
Gold Vermeil — Sterling silver (925) base with a gold layer 2.5+ microns thick. More durable than standard plating with a longer-lasting shine.
