About Blue Sapphire
Blue sapphire is a variety of corundum, the same mineral as ruby, drawing its deep, clear blue from traces of iron and titanium. At Mohs 9, it is second only to diamond in hardness. It is the birthstone for September, and its meanings are sincerity, compassion, and nobility. Most sapphire on the market is heat-treated to adjust the color, but this one is African and unheated — a market rarity, delivered with the natural deep blue the stone formed on its own.
