Ametrine is a rare stone in which amethyst (purple) and citrine (yellow) coexist within a single crystal. Natural ametrine comes from just one place in the world — the Anahí mine in Bolivia.

Large 6.7ct heart ametrine purple and yellow gradient SMUK

Some stones sold as "ametrine" are amethyst heated to create the yellow. This one, however, is natural ametrine from the Anahí mine — the purple and yellow are both the earth's own colors, with no heat treatment.

Ametrine carries two birthstones — February's amethyst and November's citrine. Its stone meanings are "harmony" and "balance." A rare bicolor quartz where two opposite colors become one.
